Higgins Lake, Michigan

Higgins Lake was formed by the glacier ice caps that retreated during the ice age. The lake is spring fed and reaches depths beyond 200 feet deep near the many springs at the lake bottom.

In the 1960's National Geographic Magazine identified Higgins Lake as the 6th most beautiful lake in the world!

Higgins Lake has two islands, one above water, the other sunken.  Treasure Island is above water and is populated with seasonal cottages. Treasure Island is centrally located on the lake and is visable from our beach.The second island is the "sunken island" as it is referred to. The sunken island is approximately 6 acres in size and is at a depth averaging 3 feet. The edges of this island drop off sharply to depths of over 100 feet. Both islands are popular with boaters and very fun for the kids.

Higgins Lake offers two of the most popular state parks in Michigan; the North Higgins Lake State Park and the South Higgins Lake State Park. Both parks are only minutes away from our beach by boat.
